Some Sajan This Mahajan

Should one feel sorry for Soumashree (Dimpy) Ganguly? Any sympathy for her dad? And should we even care or show any feeling for Rahul Mahajan? I woke up shocked with Dimpy's bruises on the front page. Rahul Mahajan was the perfect villain and Dimpy the perfect bechari Bhartiya nari.

During my stint at the Indian Express long ago, I had written that if you take emotional or physical abuse once it is the other person's fault, after that it is yours because you let him or her do it to you. Well, here is a perfect example: Dimpy says it's happened before and it is only this time that she decided to speak up. Speak up by pulling her skirt for the media. Wow! What a mature way to handle such a sensitive and painful matter such as this. Oh, but then, maybe it's my fault here. Remember, this was a televised swayamvar so if all their emotions could be on camera why should she be media shy when it comes to the marital bliss or twist?

The correspondent from the entertainment desk asked me if I felt bad for her. It's sad what happened but bad? I don't know because she got married to him knowingly. That Rahul Mahajan was allegedly involved in a drug abuse case where his secretary Vivek Moitra died of an overdose and that he was accused of physical violence more than once was known and not to mention his crazy behaviour on Big Boss. Who could not tell that the guy was slightly off his rockers?

Dimpy was either too naive or simply too desperate to get her ticket to fame and money. After knowing all about Rahul, she competed with other idiotic girls like herself who were dying to marry this supposedly eligible bachelor. Rahul's sister Poonam knew what would happen soon and so she smartly kept away from the wedding thereby safeguarding her reputation and her political career.

The correspondent asked me whether if the marriage was over and this was the same day when Dimpy had sworn to leave him. It was simple to predict that Dimpy would get back to Rahul like a true-blue Indian girl. She went into this knowingly. She and her family could see only fame and money. And she already has managed to bag a TV show. Leaving Rahul signifies living without the luxuries she has got used to being Mrs. Rahul Mahajan. Such calculative girls often do the math and then come up with the right solution.

Then came the next shocker: Dimpy lashed out at Payal Rohatgi saying she had no business to comment about Rahul because it was a private matter. Wake up girl!! You got married on national TV. It is absurd to ask for privacy when you go knocking on media doors lifting your skirt to show your wounds. If you had the right to talk because of a public swayamvar then so does Payal whose love happened when she was an inmate on Big Boss.

One day Dimpy attacks Payal and claims to be happily married, next day she declares that the marriage is over, the next day she says through her dad that all is well and then she attacks Payal for discussing private matters. This is why this marriage might just last for the time being at the least. Dimpy seems to be unstable as her controversial husband, if not worse. Surely, this marriage may have been conceptualised on television but this match was made in heaven. They seem to be just perfect for each other . Instead of a honeymoon, a trip to the mental asylum would have helped.
